The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter has a dedicated team of trained, highly skilled professionals that are there to save lives.
The experienced pilots have over 3000 hours of flying experience and are trained in day/night winch operations, search and rescue (SAR), sling loads, rappelling, command multi engine instrument rated and low level operations.
Air and rescue crewmembers have extensive training and experience in surf rescue and have qualifications in lifesaving and resuscitation techniques. The air and rescue crew members are also competent in hoisting and sling loads, search and rescue (SAR), roping and abseiling, mountaineering, SCUBA diving, white water rescue, bush craft, survival and possess basic life support (BLS) skills.
Pilots, air and rescue crewmembers are competent in emergency helicopter procedures and undergo intensive training in Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (HUET) to ensure the safety and well being of all crew members.
