Our Work

The Westpac Life Saver is a community-based not for profit organisation providing helicopter rescue services to the communities of Sydney, southern NSW and Central Coast regions. It is a free service with the sole mission of saving lives and does not receive any direct government funding.

Situated less than 200 metres from the coast at La Perouse, the Westpac Life Saver is the only dedicated rescue helicopter based on the Sydney coast. Our unique position and proximity dramatically helps narrow search time during a rescue. Aside from aquatic surveillance as far south as Warilla, the Service is often called to search for activated emergency distress beacons that could take us inland as far as the Blue Mountains, south as far as the Victorian border or north to Scone in the Central West of NSW.

We are tasked by and work closely with other rescue organisations such as NSW Police Rescue, Water Police, Rural Fire Service, the State Emergency Service, Australian Search And Rescue (AusSAR) and Surf Life Saving NSW.
