Search for Rock Fisherman, Whale Beach

Shortly before 1130 hours, the Surf Life Saving State Operations Centre tasked Lifesaver 1 to head towards the southern end of Whale Beach on Sydney's Northern Beaches after reports had been received that a rock fisherman was missing at that location.   Upon their arrival, the Westpac Life Saver located personal belongings on a rock ledge and an extensive search commenced, involving Water Police and Australian Lifeguard Service Lifeguards from Pittwater Council.

After searching for more than an hour, the helicopter and other emegency services were advised that the search was being postponed whilst police made further enquiries to confirm as to whether someone was actually missing.
