Search for missing kayaker, Botany Bay
03 January 2012
At 1900 hours, the Surf Life Saving State Operations Centre tasked the Westpac Life Saver to conduct a search on the southern side of Botany Bay, near Kurnell, after reports were received that a kayak was in the water with no person on board. Lifesaver 1 conducted a search of the area and located the kayak washed up on the beach. An extensive air and sea search was conducted with Water Police and surf lifesavers but no person was found. The search has been put on hold pending further investigations as it appears the kayak may have been blown from its storage point by strong winds.
