Rescue of kayaking family, Moruya

Call recieved at the South Coast base from Police at 1438 hours.  Three persons in distress in water at Moruya breakwater. On arrival, the crew identifed 3 persons: 2 male adults and 1 child. 1 male and 1 child clinging to kayak. Other male on surfboard.  An additional upturned kayak also sighted. Recovered female child (8 years) by winch.  Remained overhead until Moruya SLS IRB arrived to male adults and marked kayaks with smoke. Established coms with Broulee SLS and provided SITREP.  One male able to swim ashore once child recovered, other male recovered to shore on surfboard. Took child to a beach on southern side of breakwater. Child returned to adult male (father) who advised his son was also missing.  Relaunched and commenced search whilst seeking to establish whereabouts of boy via comms.  Identifed a third kayak in water, awash and slightly under water. A boy matching the discription of missing child sighted with a Police Officer at boat ramp north side of breakwater. Confirmed this was the boy in question.  Guided Broulee RWC and Moruya IRB to Kayaks then Lifesaver 3 to Moruya.  Survivors were in care of SLS personnel and/or Police (young boy). An ambulance was departing north side of breakwater (presumably with boy) to meet father and young girl on south side (heard over coms prior to RTB).
