Boat Explosion, Sydney Harbour
04 January 2012
Shortly before 0100 hours, NSW Police tasked the Westpac Life Saver to attend in the vicnity of Point Piper on Sydney Harbour after reports had been received that a boat moored in the Harbour had exploded.
Lifesaver 1 arrived and after a short search found the boat submerged off the Point. Using its powerful Nitesun searchlight, the helicopter lit up the area for Water Police and investigators. A search of the area did not locate any people in the water and it was presumed that no person was on board at the time of the accident.
